Founded in 1982 and based in Roanoke.

Our monthly chapter meetings are held in Roanoke on the second Tuesday of each month.

Our Mission:

Philanthropy – voluntary action for the common good – is a necessary element of civic betterment and those activities which meet societal needs.  Fund raising is an essential discipline in the philanthropic process.  The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), an individual member association, advances philanthropy through education, training and advocacy based on research, a code of ethical principles and standards of professional practice.   AFP members and affiliates enable people and organizations to better serve diverse communities and society as a whole.  The AFP is a not-for-profit corporation organized in accordance with Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code.
